#1 Language learning techniques | Active immersion
Active immersion
Active immersion is a technique that simulates how we learned our native language: surrounding ourselves with the language in real-life contexts, even before fully understanding it. It doesn't require living abroad, but rather creating an environment where the language is present in your daily life.
How to Apply It
Passive Listening (Constant Background):
-Playlists in the target language while cooking, walking, or working (e.g., online radio stations like Radio Garden).
-Audiobooks or podcasts for beginners (Coffee Break Languages, Duolingo Spanish Podcast).
Active Listening (Mindful Focus):
-Videos with subtitles on YouTube (look for channels like Easy Languages).
-Transcribe song phrases or dialogue and translate them.
Immersive Reading:
-News or simple articles (use LingQ or extensions like Readle for instant translation).
-Children's books or comics (visuals + context = better retention).
Digital Environment in Language:
-Change the language on your phone, computer, or video games.
-Follow social media accounts in that language that cover topics that interest you.
