#3 Language learning techniques | Emotional connection
Emotional connection
The emotional connection method is based on learning a language through topics you're passionate about, linking learning to positive and meaningful experiences. When content excites you, your brain retains information better and motivation stays high.
1. Choose topics you love:
-Do you like soccer? Follow sports channels in that language, listen to podcasts, or interviews with players.
-Do you love K-pop? Learn Korean with song lyrics, reality shows, or Vlives of your idols.
-Are you a gamer? Play online with native speakers or change the language of your games.
2. Consume authentic content:
-Series/Movies: Watch your favorites dubbed or subtitled in the target language (e.g., anime in Japanese).
-Books/Comics: Read simplified versions of your favorite sagas (Harry Potter, Marvel, etc.).
-Social Media: Follow influencers or memes in that language (humor helps you remember!).
3. Create personal projects:
-Write a diary or blog about your hobby in your new language.
-Record videos or TikToks explaining something you're passionate about (even if they're short).
Benefits:
- Long-term memory: Emotions activate the hippocampus, which is key to retaining information.
- Sustained motivation: You won't feel like you're "studying," but rather enjoying your passion.
- Relevant vocabulary: You'll learn words you'll actually use.
