#2 Language learning techniques | Tandem method
TANDEM Method
The tandem method is a social technique for learning languages for free, based on conversational exchanges with native speakers. Instead of formal classes, you practice your target language while helping your partner practice theirs.
How Does It Work?
1. Find a partner:
Use apps like Tandem, HelloTalk, Speaky or look for local groups on Meetup, For example: You speak for 30 minutes in Spanish, and your partner speaks for 30 minutes in English.
2. Structure the session:
-Topic of the day: Cooking, travel, news (avoid the repetitive "how are you?").
-Mutual correction: Note down mistakes and explain them at the end.
-Combine it with other methods:
-Prepare vocabulary before the session (e.g., a word list about "cinema").
-Record the conversation (with permission) to review later.
Key Benefits:
-Real pronunciation: You learn accents, slang, and everyday expressions.
-Cultural connection: Discover customs and humor of the language.
-Motivation: It's more fun than studying alone.
